Right after the second World War the United Kingdom evolved into an immigration country. The topic was really contetious in public and politics and even parties like the United Kingdom Independence Party gained Votes with an attitude against immigrants.
Development & reasons
In the postwar years
After the second Worl War the UK needed more workmen because of the high wealth, so most of the new workers came from the colonies. The immigrants had better immigration requirements than other, mainly because of the british citizenship law. Both benefited, the immigrants and the british citizens.
In the 1950ies to 1970ies
In the 1950ies and 1960ies severel waves of immigration took place. The biggest parts of the black-skin people living in the UK (2011) came in immigration movements especially between the 1950ies and 1960ies from the british colonies, India, Africa and from the Carribean.
