The German school system
In Germany, compulsory schooling is compulsory from the age of 6. From then on you go to primary school for 4 years, that is until the fourth grade. When you have finished primary school, you continue on to secondary school. This term refers to schools like grammar schools or comprehensive schools. Depending on how your certificate is in the fourth grade, a school will be recommended to you and you can then choose for yourself which school you would like to go to. The schools then use the certificate to determine whether you can go to that school. In North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, you will be taught there from 7:40 am to 12:50 pm, or on long days until 14:25 pm. At the school you are then from the 5th grade up to the 10th grade or at grammar schools up to the 12th or 13 grade. This corresponds to an age of 11-18 years. With the exception of the grammar schools, you have to complete a middle school leaving certificate in the 10th grade. However, if you want to take the Abitur, you will have to go to a grammar school. You need this Abitur to be able to study later and earn more money because of better jobs.

Before you enter primary school you usually attend kindergarten. After that, you will enter primary school at the age of 6, which you must attend. There you complete 4 school years the 1-4 class. Afterwards, you can take a certificate from the degree in the 4th grade. In the second class you decide whether you will attend a grammar school, a secondary modern school or a secondary modern school to complete the next school years. At the gymnasium, school starts at 07:40 and ends at 12:50. On long school days with 9 hours, school continues until 15:25. At our school in Nord- Rhein Westfalen the children have to learn at least 2 foreign languages. At the grammar school it continues then with the 5th - 12th or 13th grade. Great. This corresponds then to the age of 11- 18 years to complete his high school diploma. After 10. You can get off in the second class and thus have the medium maturity. In order to be able to study later, one needs the Abitur, which is then valid until the 12th/13th grade. Great. The holidays in Germany /North Rhine-Westphalia are in summer, these last 6 weeks, then in autumn for 2 weeks, in winter and in spring also 2 weeks.

Report of German School-System
Germany has a different school system than in other countries. It starts with us at the age of three in a „Kindergarten“. There you are three years and then you come to a primary school at age 6. In primary school you learn all basics. In the second to the third year of school, it starts with the search for the right secondary school. We have 4 different types of secondary schools. One is the Grammar school. At the end of the 4th school year, you will receive a certificate on which the achievements in the last school year of the primary school are written on it. Afterwards we go to the secondary school. This goes up to the Abitur (12 or 13 years). But there are also some who do not want to take their Abitur and graduate after 10 years.

German school system
There are three different types of schools in Germany. Secondary school, secondary school and high school. Before that, you have to go to primary school for four years. After primary school you get a recommendation on which school type you should go to. If you go to the junior high school then you have to go up to the tenth grade and then you get your middle maturity. If you go to a high school you have to go up to the 12th grade and then do your Abitur afterwards you can study. But you can't cut everything with every Abitur. For example, if you want to become a doctor you have to have a one-cut style

German school system
The German school system is kind of different than the American and the British ones. Before you enter school, you can visit a Kita or a kindergarten. As in America we start school at the age of 6 at our elementary school. You will stay there for 4 years (I live in North Rhine-Westphalia. In some states it can be more or less). After you completed elementary school, you’ll go to a "Gymnasium", "Real-", "Gesamt-" or "Hauptschule". It depends on your grades. If you have very good grades, you should better go to a Gymnasium. You’ll stay there until you’re 17 or 18 and do your “Abitur”. If your grades are normal, you should visit a Realschule. You’ll stay there until you’re 15 or 16 and do your "Realschulabschluss". And if your grades are not the best, then you should go to a "Hauptschule", where you’ll stay until you’re 15 to 16 too and do your "Hauptschulabschluss". At a "Gesamtschule" you can do all different kinds of graduations. After school, only "Gymnasiasten" with an Abitur can go to a university. The rest will probably do an “Ausbildung”. My school is called “Clara-Fey-Schule”, which is a privat School, which means you have to pay for it. It is a Gymnasium and a Realschule, but I’m visiting the Gymnasium. I’m fourteen years old and in 8th grade. My school starts at 7:40 am, on some days it ends at 12:50 am and on some days it ends at 3:25 pm. I always take the bus to get home. In four years, I’m going to do my Abitur, and then I want to visit a university.

The German school system is a little different than the school system in the USA or in the UK. Before you go to school at the age of six, you can visit a nursery school or a day care centre. From the age of six you go to primary school. You leave elementary school after four years. Then you can go to a “Gymnasium”, “Real-“, “Gesamt-“, “Sekundar-“ or “Hauptschule”. This depends on your grades. If you have very good grades it is best to go to the “Gymnasium” but you can choose anything. If you are on a “Gymnasium” you can make the “Realschulabschluss” or the “Abitur”. For an “Realschulabschluss” you have been at the “Gymnasium” for six years. But for the “Abitur” you will stay there for 8 years. And only people with an “Abitur” can go to a University. But if you do not have such good grades you should better choose the “Hauptschule” or the “Realschule”. There you will stay for 6 years. Maybe after the “Realschule” you can go to a “Gymnasium” and make the “Abitur”. I am on a private school called Clara-Fey and it is “Gymnasium” ad a “Realschule” but I am visiting the “Gymnasium”. I will do my “Abitur” and go to a University. The school starts at 7:40 am and ends at 12:50 am. But sometimes it ends at 3:25 pm. I always take the bus to come to the school and to go back home.

Before most children come to school in Germany, they attend a kindergarten. In Germany, compulsory schooling is required from the age of 6. Some children already come to primary school at the age of five. The primary school consists of 4 grades, the 1st, 2., 3. and 4th grade. You leave the primary school after the 4th grade and change to the secondary school. Depending on your grades, you go to the "Gymnasium", "Realschule", "Gesamtschule" or "Hauptschule". The "Gymnasium" is the best school and the "Hauptschule" is the worst. At the "Gesamtschule" you can get a "Realschulabschluss" but also a "Gymnasialabschluss". In primary school, every child will be advised which school is the best for them. After the 10th class, you have the secondary school diploma. Depending on the federal state, you make the "Abitur" after the 12th or 13th class. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the school starts at 7:40 am and ends at 12:50 am or at 3:25 pm.
