They also seem to think that they destroy their culture, that is meant to be without other skin colors. The minorities living in Britain feel less british and this controverse is reminding many of them of the past history. But the author names british traditions that only exists because of the Immigration. In the end he also claims that no one has a perfect past history and that he is not the same opinion like some politicians in Britain.

In times of the Brexit you can recognize that a few Britain’s are against refugees and ethnic minorities because of different reasons. Their opinion is that they are destroying their culture because they do not have white skin like the Britain’s. They think the way to be independence and freedom is the Brexit. In the end the author criticizes the british people and the politicians because of their sight because no country has a perfect history.

Hirsch also mentions her own experiences with racism, she mentions one incident when a taxi driver told her that she would be ‘home’ soon. Then she mentions the Opinium poll, which states that British minorities are less likely to identify as British since the Eu referendum. Instead, they chose to claim their ethnic identity as their own. This is because of lacking protection offered at workplaces or by the police. The last is about how British culture is not exclusively white and does not exclude ethnic minorities by nature. As she mentions that a lot of British traditions do not have their origins in Britain. Such as fish and Chips which is from Portugal. Hirsch feels uneasy about the way patriotism is treated in England because of its reputation for being Xenophobic. She ends her article by thanking the people spreading hostility towards minorities and appeals to everyone to do so themselves.

Afua Hirsch does not agree with the racist part of Britain. She believes that every culture is influenced by other country’s and that no society has a good past but all that matters is the present.
