Summary chapter 1

The first chapter of Snakeman deals with the girl Cathy, whose is new at the Portland High. Cathy didn’t want to be an outsider and likes to be in a group. She got introduced by her new teacher Mr. Deedles with all nice things, she told him. After the lesson, a boy whose called Jamie Hanson hurried to her and asked her about an interview during lunch for the newspaper. She accepted the offering and Jamie ran away. She also likes the Spanish teacher Mr Ferrero and the chemistry teacher Ms. McPherson. The only teacher she didn’t like was her Math teacher Mr Arnold but this could be because she can’t stand Math. The interview with Jamie wasn’t mechanicly, instead he picked up things she told him. He asked her about her hobbies (riding) and invited her in the riding club. Also he invited her to work for the newspaper. She took a long time to think of it and accepted the inviting.

Chapter 2

In the second chapter of the novel Snakeman, Cathy met "Snakeman" the first time. After school, everyone hurried out to their lockers and went home. Cathy took a while to find her locker. After a while, cathy found her locker, but everyone left already. Suddenly a tall and thin boy appeared behind her. His head was small and his eyes looked like some of a snake. Two other boys were beside her. Cathy tried to introduce her, but the Snakeman knew her already. He entered her name in a list of a club. The Snakeman told her to pay a membership due every week of 5$. Cathy wasn’t sure what he is on about and was upset. She knew this situation and tried to be tough. She told him to piss off before she gets angry. The Snake man said, that he likes tough girls, but what he doesn’t like is, if someone isn’t showing him respect. He pushed her against a locker and seized her arms. Cathy tried to bring her knees between his legs, but he was wearing a cup. He pressed her many times to the locker. She hurt her knee. The Snakeman told her many times, that cooperation is most important. If she is trying to get help, he will hurt her and her brother again. Cathy had to pay the first due of 5 dollars. After the Snakeman and the other boys_ received the due, they hurried away. Cathy stood there for a few minutes and rubbed her knee.

Chapter 3

Chapter 3 of the novel Snakeman is about Cathy, whose driving home by bus. After she got bullied at her first day, she went by bus home. She was scared and looked only forward. She didn`t talk and didn’t want to talk. After a while, Mike asked, how her first school day was. She said it was good, she spent the whole morning in finding where she should be. Most teachers are ok except of one or two. But she just has get used to them. She told him, that the kids in her class were nice, the teachers too. Except of the sport teacher. He is like a drill sergeant and let us run, until we almost pass out. Mike was a bottle man. Cathy had to go. She saw her brother jumping on his bike and ride of. In two hours her mother should normaly come. She asked herself everytime the question” should I tell my mom or not”. She would wait a few days until she is welcomed in school. After her mother came home, she lied and said, she had to do some homework first. The next few hous, she laid in her bed, her body very still but her mind moving quickly. She thought many times about how to deal with the enemy.

Chapter 4

In Chapter 4 of the novel snakeman, Cathy tries to do no response. Cathy tries to give the Snakeman the 5 dollars without a response. After some weeks of giving the Snakeman money, The Snakeman is instead of going away, staying and looking at Cathys face. After a while, he said, that she has a nice necklace and wants it as a sign of friendship. He meant, that he has friends, that can proof it if its real or not. He pulled at cathys necklace. He meant, íf she doesn’t hand it out, He will show her what respect is. She handed it over. Cathy was afraid, because her mom gave it to her at her last birthday and she just handed it out. When she was at home, she got called by phone by Jamie. He wanted that she join the reporter club. Cathy first denied to be more attractive and wanted to enjoy every minute she is talking with him. After a while, she accepted. She could’nt beat the snakeman alone, so she needs help. She also need to be careful, because he has many friends who are helping him.
