Chapter 1: In the first chapter (p. 5-7) of the novel Snakeman, written by Paul davenport a girl named Cathy Crosby goes to her third school in the past four or five years. The Portland High. She plays the part of the nice girl. Before the school starts she spoke to the homeroom teacher, Mr. Deedles and he asked her if she wants to introduce herself or if he should do it. She says that he should do it for her. She answers the questions of her new classmates in a quiet way. After the first period a boy, Jamie Hanson, asks if he could do an Interview with her because he works for the school newspaper. She agreed and met him during lunch. She answers his questions about her school history and hobbies. After they finished he asks if maybe she wants to work for the school newspaper too. She says that she has to think about it.

Chapter 2: In the second chapter the school day ends and everyone heads to their lockers and by the time Cathy found her locker nearly everyone left. As she opened her locker she felt an unpleasant presence behind her so she took her jacket and slowly turned around. Behind her stood a tall guy he had eyes that were nearly the same as from a snake. He grinned but it wasn’t a friendly grin. First he didn’t say anything he just stared at her. Then he said that from now on she was a member of his club. She was confused and said that she didn’t signed up for any club. But he answered that he had done it for her and that he knew who I really was. Every member of his club has to pay five dollar every week. She didn’t want this and so she responded in a sassy tone. And then he said that she didn’t want that something happens to me or my brother. So she tried to kick him between his legs and expected him to wince in pain but instead she was the one who winced because he wore a cup. Suddenly she felt weak and gave him a five dollar bill and he left. Then she walked home.

Chapter 3: In the third chapter Cathy comes home from school she didn’t want to tell her brother what happened so she just said what didn’t let her look suspicious. Until her mom came home she asked if she should tell her about her “little problem” or not. She didn’t tell her. She listened to what her mother had to say and went to her room she sat down and thought about how she could deal with Snakeman. At the end she thought of a strategy.

Chapter 4: In the fourth chapter Cathy payed the last few weeks. She decided not to resist and it worked well but she had the feeling that something changed. One day she wore a necklace that she became a year ago from her mother. Snakeman asked about it but she lied and said it wasn’t real and that she had it since she was a little girl. He forced her to give it to him so he could give it to a friend because he will test if the necklace really wasn’t real. She gave it to him and at home she thought again about her little problem. Later that day Jamie called her and asked if she had decided what she wants to do. After a little convincing from Jamie she accepted.

Chapter 5: In the fifth chapter Cathy has to go to meet the principal but before she enters she thinks that maybe he could also be a part of Snakeman’s club. During the appointment the only thing they are doing is small talk. Dr. Callahan was nice but Cathy has a strange feeling about him. The feeling was because every time she hinted to her problem he pulls on his tie and clears his throat.
