Uluru at sunrise:

beautiful blue sky – big rock in the middle of nowhere – early during the day – really quiet and relaxing – the sun is rising – a holy place for Aborigines


Holes in Uluru:

the holes were made by red lizard (the Dreaming) – the holes offer a cool place for humans and animals – during the day: hot and dry – maybe water or humans formed the holes


Cave paintings:

special paintings – Aborigines wanted to show their history or the Dreaming – hidden meaning – very colourful – it took a lot of time (mixing of colours & the painting) – Aborigines were artists

  • They really like to take photos
  • Some don’t respect the culture of the Aborigines
  • Tourists usually come in groups
  • People usually struggle with the heat


colours

  • Colours change throughout the day
  • They become stronger when the sun rises
  • Uluru during rainfall = silver & during sunshine = red/brown
  • cave paintings = ~40.000 years old
  • The sky turns from black to yellow and red in the morning
  • red & brown soil vs. some green bushes


weather

  • It’s very hot and dry because the sun is usually burning


Aboriginal culture

  • Uluru is a sacred/holy place
  • Tourists shouldn’t climb it
  • Some Aborigines still live in that area
  • Red Lizards “was active and died” inside one of the caves

  • Tourists often don’t respect Aboriginal culture, e.g. they climb the rock
