1. chapter:


Now, I have read the first chapter of the novel Snakeman. The most important person there is a girl named Cathy. She changes the school the third time in only five or for years. That‘s very often. But she is afraid that she becomes a outsider and nobody knows her. So she wants to make friends quickly. The first school day begins and the teacher Mr. Deedles greets her and ask her some questions. Cathy responses them and tells her class about herself. After this lesson a nice boy named Jamie Hanson comes to her. He wants to make an interview with her for the school newspaper. Because she has no time she wants to do the interview later. She was a little bit nervous. Now, the interview starts. Jamie Hanson asks her a lot of questions about her hobbies and her life. After the interview he asks her if she would work for the school newspaper too. She is nervous and says that she thinks about this. But she was happy too because she finds a good friend and likes him a lot. Maybe she loves him.


2. chapter:

In the second chapter of the novel, Cathy meets snakeman the first time. After school, Cathy meets a strange and angry boy. He looks like a snake, because his eyes are very thin. He wants her to join his club and to pay money for it. As she refuses this, he gets very angry and threadents her. She is very shocked. Finally she pays the money for him and the deal begins. She isn‘t allowed to tell anbody about what happened.

3. chapter:

The third chapter of the novel „Snakeman“ deals with Cathy and her thoughts. In the schoolbus she is very strange and stares infront of herself. She worries about the bad meeting with Snakeman. She doesn‘t talk to anybody and is alone. At home her little brother asks her about her first schoolday at her new school. She doesn‘t want to show him her thoughts about Snakeman. She wants to be alone what she can do next. She wants to tell this her mother but she waits for the best moment. Her mother had her first day at the new work. So it is not the right moment to talk to her. Finally she wants to find out a little bit more about her new school to make a better strategy.

4. chapter:

The fourth chapter of the novel deals with Cathy‘s next meeting with Snakeman. The next morning at school Snakeman comes to her again. He wants the money and she pays. After that she wants to change the strategy of no- resestance. So the next meeting Cathy doesn‘t want to get him the money directly. But Snakeman wants the necklace from her. He says that he gives it to his friend and she will get it back. But Cathy doen‘t want to give it to him. Then he is angry again and seems to be hard again. At the end she gives it to him. After that Jamie calls Cathy because he wants her to join the team of the school newspaper. Cathy agrees for a tryout basis.

5. chapter:

The fifths chapter of this novel is about Cathy‘s conversation with the principal of the school Mr Callahan. He seems very nice, kind and open. He says to her that this is his last year at this school. He wants to have a good last year before his career ends. They talk about some hobbies and their life. After this conversation Cathy doesn‘t want to talk about Snakeman with him. Someting warns her but she doesn‘t know what.

6. chapter:

The sixth chapter of the novel deals with the conversation of Cathy and Mr Black. Cathy makes a mental list with three categories. She looks for people she could trust to help her with Snakeman. She thinks Mr Black is the one she can trust. He is one of the counselors so probably he can help her. She starts the conversation with him to ask figure out something about Snakeman. So she asks questions about the school. Then she asks if something has been stolen at school. This is how she wants to find out something about Snakeman because he has stolen her necklace. Mr Black wants to help her. But at the end Cathy doesn‘t trust Mr Black and crosses him from the list of the trust people.

7. chapter:

In the seventh chapter Cathy tells her mom Eileen about her deal with Snakeman. When the time is good and her mom fells nice she starts to talk about it. She tells her about the 5 dollars and the stolen necklace. Eileen is very shocked and is a little bit afraid about this situation. In Cathy‘s opinion she isn‘t the only one who stands of Snakeman‘s list. He has lots of friends too. So she has to find some pupils or teachers who are on her side and don‘t like the gang of Snakeman. Her mother also supports her.

8. chapter:

In the eighth chapter of this novel Cathy has her first meeting with Jamie. At school everything is better and Cathy made a lot of friends. She likes working for the school newspaper. Snakeman doesn‘t make so much trouble than before. Cathy and Jamie go on a canoeing tour and have a lot of fun. After that a bad storm comes. They fall in the water and look for a good place to dry their clothes. They get closer and have a „tickling party“. They enjoy the nature, the nice scenery and animals of the forest. They have a wonderful day together and they love each other.

9. chapter:

The ninth chapter of the book shows, that Snakeman likes Cathy a lot and wants to go on a Harley Davidson tour with her. When Cathy realizes that Snakeman wants her to be his girlfriend she is afraid of the dangerous situation. She doesn‘t want to make Snakeman angry and thinks about a good solution.

10. chapter:

In the tenth chapter Cathy has a very bad dream about Snakeman and her. In her dream they make a motorbike trip into the mountains. She sees Mr Black and Mr Callahan but they don‘t help her and react. In the dream Snakeman wants her to kiss him. His face and body is like a real snake and wraps around her body like a Python. At this point Cathy is afraid but it is only a dream. She wakes up and her mother Eileen calms her down.

11. chapter:

In the chapter 11 Cathy tells Jamie about her deal with Snakeman and her thoughts. She thinks that Mr Callahan and Mr Black are on the side of Snakeman. She has a bad feeling. In her opinion Snakeman has a big gang and school under his control. Together with Jamie and the other she wants to fight against the gang. Jamie is very afraid about this situation and worries about Cathy.

12. chapter:

The 12th chapter is about the conversation between Cathy, Ms. Southerland and Jamie. Cathy wants to make a report about Snakeman and his gang in the newspaper `The Bacon`. Ms. Southerland and Jamie don‘t like her idea. They aren‘t sure if the problem with Snakeman is really so big. Cathy can‘t understand this. She feels alone and is very disappointed.

13. chapter:

The 13th chapter deals with the conversation with Cathy and Jamie. At the beginning Cathy shows Jamie her dragontattoo. Jamie is very surprised about thatand wants to talk with her. Cathy wants to finish the relationship with Jamie because he let her alone and didn‘t help her. Jamie is very shocked and sad about this situation. The only way to continue the relationship with Cathy is that he makes Ms. Southerland allowed to write the report for the newspaper. Jamie is in a bad situation, but he wants to do it.

14. chapter:

In this chapter Jamie talks to Cathy. He decides to write the report about Snakeman, although Ms. Southerland doesn‘t allowed to do it. Ms. Southerland showes Jamie the bad consequences when he really does it. In her opinion it destroyes his career. Jamie risks this for not disappointing Cathy.

15. chapter:

In the 15th chapter Cathy, Jamie and other pupils write the report about Snakeman in `The Bacon` without informing the teachers. They don‘t want the teachers and Snakeman to know about writing this article. Lots of students buy this edition. But at the end the principal notices that and calls Jamie and Cathy to him.

16. chapter:

The 16th chapter of the novel is about the meeting in the principal‘s office between Jamie, Cathy, Ms. Southerland and Mr. Callahan. At the beginning the two teachers are very angry about this article and with Jamie and Cathy. But then the mayor calls Mr. Callahan and the talk to each other. The mayor thinks the article was right and courageous. He is very proud of Jamie and Cathy. When Mr. Callahan hears this he changes his mind. Now he isn‘t angry anymore. They realize that they were wrong. At the end of this chapter all are invited to a press conference with the mayor.

17. chapter:

In the last chapter the police investigates against Gordan Baker. Gordan Baker has disappered. A lot of pupils are still very afraid of him. A few days later the police find him selling drugs to other pupils. Gordon has a gun and shoots to the policeman. One policeman hurts his arm. After that the police shoot Gordon in his chest and he died in hospital. Now the teribble thing at Portland High are over. Everybody is very relieved.
